Convention Communication

Physicians traveling in the spring for conventions have usually done this before. It’s easy, right? Book the convention hotel, register for the meeting, look for a few dining spots, and get in touch with friends and colleagues who may be there. But with the advent of Facebook and Twitter, there is so much more information available as attendees can communicate with each other before the event. In fact, the convention itself can be that much more satisfying with some pre-planning and communication. Check out the association’s Web site regularly, but also join in the “chats” to fine tune your schedule, see what’s happening, and stay fully connected. If there is a paper or topic that is of great interest to you, dive in and see if you can connect with the speaker ahead of the meeting. Convention communication has been taken to a whole new level these days, and it pays to jump online.
